Ashampoo Internet Accelerator allows you to analyze your Windows PC’s internet settings and Installed Web browsers. Then enables you to optimize the Internet connection and adapter settings for the best performance. You just need to select the options and then click on start. Everything else automatic.
If you are an advanced use who needs more control to change the settings manually, you can set the values manually.
Main Functions of Ashampoo Internet Accelerator
Test MTU Value
You can automatically test your connection to determine the optimum MTU value, which you can then set in the MTU tab. This can be useful but it should not be necessary for most connections.
Change MTU Value Manually
The MTU setting defines the size of your data packets. The greater the available bandwidth the higher your MTU value can be. However, some adapters only allow MTU settings within a specific range.
Set RWIN Value Manually
This is the number of bytes the server sends before expecting a response. This is normally calculated with the formula ((MTU-40)*4). The RWIN value must always be an even multiple of (MTU-40).
Change TTL (Time To Live) Value
The TTL value defines the number of servers a data packet can traverse before it is regarded as invalid. Higher values allow longer (and thus slower) connections.
Change QoS (Quality of Service) Value
This function tries to reserve bandwidth for important* data packets. For example, it gives live video stream packets priority over other downloads. This sounds good, but QoS can sometimes make your connection slower. If you don’t need it you should switch it off.
Other Functions of Ashampoo Internet Accelerator
- Host File Checker: You can check the Windows “Hosts” file for changes by malicious programs. The Hosts file contains the absolute addresses of known Internet sites and it can be manipulated to redirect you to a different site, even though the correct address is shown in the browser. This can naturally be dangerous.
- Internet Cleaner: You can delete all traces of your browsing activity, including temporary Internet files, cookies (selectable) and the record of the websites you have visited. Supports the Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Opera browsers.
- Speed Test: You can test the speed of your current Internet connection. Restart Windows before running this test if you have optimized your connection with Internet Accelerator, otherwise your new settings won’t be used. For the most accurate results stop any downloads or uploads or other Internet access.
